A range of measures would aim to improve gateways into the town centre and fully integrate the seafront with the town to make it more attractive to spend time in a Morecambe less dominated by cars. This approach is much better than the reactionary one which is taken to planning applications which would have to be determined in the absence of a robust and up-to-date Local Plan. |

The £250 million project, previously known as the Canal Corridor North, plans on redeveloping a 16-acre site including Edward Street and Brewery Lane that the council says is "derelict and under-used". A draft list of site visits (Version 1) (PDF, 285KB) to be undertaken by the Inspector has been issued. Upon adoption these documents superseded the previous Local Plan which was formed of the residual elements of the 2004 Lancaster District Local Plan, 2008 Lancaster District Core Strategy and 2014 Development Management DPD, these three documents have now been formally withdrawn. |
